We have carefully chosen a collectors assortment of high quality crystalline zeolite specimens from India.
Each box will contain at least one specimen each of the majority of the more widely recognised types but by the very nature of these specimens there are likely to be more unusual crystals nestling amongst the varied clusters.
Usually included are Stilbite (pink 'sheaves'), Apophylite (clear cubic crystals with pyramid terminations), Prehnite (pale green), Gyrolite (green spheroids), Calcite (clear or brown), Heulandite (Pink or white Diamond-shaped 'fan') and Okenite (fragile white crystalline 'puff-ball'). The name quartz is believed to have originated in the early 1500s from the Saxon word querklufterz (cross-vein ore), which was corrupted to quererz and then to quartz. Quartz was well known to the ancients, who called it crystal or ROCK CRYSTAL.
Quartz is colorless and transparent when pure. Its hardness is 7 on the Mohs scale. This crystal exhibits clarity with natural smooth faces in a double-terminated configuration and similar crystals from Herkimer County in New York are prized by collectors throughout the world.
